Given the continuous occurrence of traffic violations with the bad nature of bicycles, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department showed the education and law enforcement of cyclists to the media in Toshima Ward, Tokyo on the 31st.

On the 31st, the enforcement of the four types of violations of "running a red light", "not stopping to give way", "passing on the right" and "riding on the sidewalk without slowing down" will be strengthened.

It is said that if only a "warning" was given before if the nature is bad, it will actively issue a ticket that becomes the object of criminal punishment.

On the morning of the 31st, a large number of bicycles passed near the intersection in Minamiikebukuro, Toshima Ward. "Bicycles are also vehicles, and violations will be punished. Please be careful when riding," the police said to cyclists who were waiting for the green light.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, as of the end of September this year, there were 10,271 bicycle-related traffic accidents in Tokyo (an increase of 1,718 from the previous year), accounting for about 46.6% of the total number of accidents.

21 cyclists were killed (an increase of 8), and the police discussed strengthening enforcement of 4 types of violations that may cause major accidents.

Civilized Cycling:

1. When crossing the road, you must choose an intersection or crossing facility equipped with crosswalk lines and crosswalk signal lights. Cars approaching the crosswalk line will slow down, so the crosswalk line can guide pedestrians to cross the road safely.

2. When crossing the road, when the signal light of the pedestrian crossing turns green, observe the situation of the vehicle on the left, and then quickly walk to the middle of the road after confirming safety.

Observe the vehicle on the right and pass quickly after confirming safety. Sometimes there are turning vehicles passing by, you should pay attention to this situation to avoid accidents.

Precautions for civilized bicyclists to cross the road:

1. Don’t take chances when crossing the road. Don’t forcibly cross the road when the crosswalk signal light does not turn green. This is very dangerous.

2. In the road section where people and traffic are dense and the road conditions are complicated, you should observe the surrounding situation a lot, let it go if you can, don't worry, and pass it after confirming safety. Keep a certain distance from large vehicles to avoid rolling and rubbing caused by the driver's blind spot.

3. Be sure to concentrate on crossing the road, do not cross the road while looking at your mobile phone.

Because when you focus most of your energy on your mobile phone, your walking speed will slow down, which may lead to failure to cross the road before the crosswalk signal turns red, affecting other pedestrians to cross the road, or even deviating from the crosswalk, which is very prone to traffic accidents.
